Three imaging modalities in one footprint. PAX-i3D delivers diagnostic-grade 2D panoramic, multi-FOV 3D cone-beam CT, and One Shot cephalometric in under a second — built by the world's largest dedicated dental CBCT manufacturer.
Live operation & imaging videos available below. We send additional warehouse photos and sample CBCT DICOM on request.
Both videos were filmed on the actual unit currently in our Shanghai facility — no marketing reels. Watch full power-up, rotation, and imaging sequences below.
Shows system start-up sequence, gantry movement, laser positioning, and patient-position adjustments.
Full imaging cycle demonstrating exposure workflow and image reconstruction on the workstation.
PAX-i3D replaces the 2D panoramic unit, the separate CBCT, and the dedicated cephalostat that a growing practice would otherwise need to buy and maintain in three different rooms.

True 3D volumetric imaging for implant planning, endodontics, impacted third molars, TMJ, and maxillofacial analysis. Multi-FOV lets you match radiation dose to anatomy of interest.
Lateral, PA, SMV, Waters, and carpus projections — both traditional Scan Ceph and industry-leading One Shot Ceph in under 1.2 seconds for pediatric orthodontics.
A fixed-FOV CBCT forces you to irradiate anatomy you don't need. PAX-i3D gives you four nested volumes — dial the scan down to just the tooth, or up to the full maxillofacial complex, in the same machine.
Nested FOV volumes at a glance
| FOV | Voxel (small / big) | Typical Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| 5 × 5 cm | 0.12 / 0.2 mm | Single-tooth endo, periapical, fractured root, impacted canine |
| 8 × 5 cm | 0.12 / 0.2 mm | Implant planning single arch, quadrant view, mandibular canal |
| 8 × 8 cm | 0.2 / 0.3 mm | Full arch (upper + lower), bilateral TMJ |
| 12 × 9 cm | 0.2 / 0.3 mm | Full maxillofacial, airway analysis, surgical planning |
8×8 configuration ships with the first three volumes; the 12×9 configuration adds the large 12×9 cm FOV. Available voxel sizes listed in "small / big" correspond to high-resolution mode / standard mode within each FOV.
PAX-i3D ships with Vatech's proprietary EzDent-i (patient database + 2D viewer) and Ez3D-i (CBCT reconstruction, MPR, 3D rendering, implant planning). The screenshot shows the standard 4-panel MPR layout: coronal, sagittal, axial, and 3D.
We currently have multiple PAX-i3D generations in stock. Photos below are from live unit inspections — message us for the latest set matching your spec.

CBCT is a serious capital investment. For the PAX-i3D specifically, every unit we ship has been powered on, rotated through full pan / ceph / CBCT cycles, and test-scanned against a phantom in our Shanghai facility — documented with both photos and video before crating.
We also include installation guidance and remote commissioning to help your engineer get to first image capture on site.
Original Vatech chassis, detector and tube — OEM firmware, OEM software license.
Pan + CBCT + Ceph test images from the actual unit sent to you in DICOM before you commit.
Custom wooden crate with shock indicators, tilt indicators, and foam interior for sensor protection.
Video commissioning sessions with your engineer, full service manuals, and Vatech partner referrals.
The PAX-i3D is a premium 3-in-1 dental X-ray imaging system that combines 2D panoramic (OPG), 3D cone beam CT (CBCT), and cephalometric (Scan Ceph and 0.9-second One Shot Ceph) modalities in a single floor-standing machine. It is made by Vatech Co., Ltd. of South Korea — a global market leader in dental CBCT imaging.
The PAX-i3D offers multi-FOV CBCT. The 8×8 configuration supports 5×5, 8×5, and 8×8 cm volumes. The 12×9 configuration adds an additional 12×9 cm volume. Smaller FOVs are used for single-tooth, endodontic and implant-site imaging; larger FOVs cover full arch, bilateral TMJ, and full maxillofacial / airway analysis.
For the 5×5 and 8×5 cm FOVs: 0.12 mm or 0.2 mm voxel. For the 8×8 and 12×9 cm FOVs: 0.2 mm or 0.3 mm.
A voxel is a 3D pixel — smaller voxels produce higher-resolution reconstructions but larger file sizes and slightly higher dose. 0.12 mm is endodontic-grade (root-canal detail); 0.2 mm is standard implant-planning grade; 0.3 mm is used for wide-FOV airway or orthognathic planning where overall anatomy matters more than fine detail.
One Shot Ceph uses a large-area digital sensor to capture the entire cephalometric view in a single 0.9–1.2 second exposure, versus Scan Ceph which sweeps the sensor across the patient over 12.9 seconds. Advantages: essentially no motion artifact (critical for children and uncooperative patients), and lower patient dose. PAX-i3D supports both modes — choose per patient / per projection.
Yes. The patient is imaged in a standing position on a floor-standing column. The base design and patient-positioning frame accept a wheelchair directly — no patient transfer required, no separate stool or chair needed. Useful for accessibility compliance and for patients with mobility limitations.
Vatech's EzDent-i (2D viewer, patient database) and Ez3D-i (CBCT reconstruction, MPR, 3D rendering, implant planning). Output is fully DICOM-compliant for integration with third-party implant planning software (coDiagnostiX, Simplant, Blue Sky Plan, Nobel Clinician) and any standard PACS or practice-management system. Multi-language UI including English, Chinese, Spanish, and Arabic.
We currently hold several pre-owned Grade-A tested PAX-i3D units from different generations. Each has been powered on, calibrated, test-scanned across all three modalities, and photographed. The live operation and imaging demo videos higher up this page are from our warehouse. Exact condition, warranty, and software license of each unit are confirmed on request.
