The Genoray PAPAYA Plus is a digital 2-in-1 dental X-ray imaging system that combines panoramic (OPG) and cephalometric (Ceph) imaging in a single floor-standing unit. It is manufactured by Genoray Co., Ltd. of South Korea, uses a CdTe + CMOS direct-conversion detector (model XID-C24DC by I3 System), and connects to the workstation over Giga Ethernet — delivering DICOM-compliant images to your practice-management or PACS software.
PAPAYA (base model) is panoramic-only. PAPAYA Plus adds a cephalometric arm with 240 mm image field height for lateral, PA and carpus ceph views — making it a true 2-in-1 pan + ceph unit. The Plus model also has slightly larger anode heat storage (35 kJ vs 30 kJ) to handle longer ceph exposures. Both share the same 60–90 kV tube, 0.5 mm focal spot, and CdTe direct-conversion detector.
A direct-conversion CdTe (cadmium telluride) + CMOS detector — specifically the XID-C24DC by I3 System.
Why it matters: most dental panoramic units on the market use indirect-conversion sensors that rely on a scintillator (usually Cs:I) to convert X-rays into visible light first, which is then captured by an a-Si or CMOS array. That intermediate step spreads photons and softens the image.
Direct-conversion CdTe skips the scintillator — X-rays generate an electrical signal directly inside the semiconductor. Result: higher MTF (up to 80% at 2.5 lp/mm), higher DQE (≥0.8 at 70 kV), and meaningfully lower patient dose for the same diagnostic quality.
Panoramic mode: standard adult panoramic, pediatric panoramic, typically TMJ lateral and TMJ PA views.
Cephalometric mode: lateral ceph (the ortho workhorse), PA (posterior-anterior) ceph, and carpus (hand-wrist) for orthodontic skeletal age assessment.

The PAPAYA Plus unit photographed is a pre-owned Grade-A tested unit currently in our Shanghai warehouse. It has been powered on, calibrated, test-imaged, and photographed as-is (actual unit, not stock photography). Minor cosmetic marks on the housing are visible in the gallery photos. Functional warranty is offered; exact terms are confirmed at quote stage.
PAPAYA Plus connects via Giga Ethernet and is traditionally bundled with Genoray's own Triana or Dental Studio imaging software, and is DICOM-capable for integration with third-party PACS or practice-management systems (Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Romexis, etc.). We will confirm which software license comes with your unit.
The PAPAYA Plus is specified for 220 V, 50/60 Hz. For deployment on 110 V North-American mains, a step-up isolation transformer is required (easily sourced locally). We can also quote a voltage-converter kit pre-configured for your unit.
