One detector for panoramic. A second, permanently installed detector for cephalometric. No sensor swap. No alignment drift. No re-calibration between modalities. The reliable Vatech pan/ceph workhorse — upgradable to CBCT when you're ready.
Live operation video below. Additional warehouse photos and test images sent on request.
Most combo pan/ceph machines save cost by using a single detector on a motorized slide that moves between the panoramic position and the ceph arm. It works — until the motor wears, the alignment drifts, or a technician needs to re-calibrate before every ceph. PAX-400C eliminates the problem by giving each modality its own dedicated, permanently mounted detector.
Both videos were recorded on the actual unit in our Shanghai facility.
Power-up, gantry rotation and sensor alignment demonstration.
Column height adjustment and rotating gantry at working speed — quiet mechanical operation.
Covers the full clinical workflow — routine adult OPG, pediatrics, TMJ assessment, orthodontic ceph, sinus imaging, and carpus-based skeletal-age analysis.
The "Lateral / PA·Waters·Carpus / SMV" projection-position labels are visible on the cephalometric detector housing itself — see gallery photo #3.
Every image from the PAX-400C is processed through Vatech's built-in AI pipeline the moment it's captured. No separate Photoshop-style post-processing step. No technician guesswork. The scan arrives at your workstation already optimized.
AI-based denoise filters suppress detector read noise and quantum noise without softening anatomical edges.
Adaptive sharpening emphasizes bone trabeculae and root apex detail — key for caries and periapical diagnosis.
Automatic histogram optimization maps the full bit-depth to diagnostic gray range — no washed-out or crushed images.
Every FOB Dental PAX-400C is photographed on-site. Note photo #3: you can read the "Lateral / PA·Waters·View·Carpus / SMV" labels molded into the ceph detector housing — evidence that all 5 projections are hardware-supported.

PAX-400C is the answer when CBCT is tempting but not yet justified — you get Vatech build quality and a frictionless upgrade path, without paying for 3D today.
The PAX-400C is a dedicated 2-in-1 dental X-ray imaging system combining panoramic (OPG) and cephalometric (ceph) modalities, manufactured by Vatech Co., Ltd. of South Korea. Its defining feature is a dual-sensor architecture — one flat-panel detector permanently mounted on the panoramic arm, and a second permanently mounted on the cephalometric arm. No sensor swap between modalities.
Most combo pan-ceph machines save on cost by using a single detector on a motorized slide that shuttles between the panoramic position and the cephalometric position. It works, but the sliding mechanism wears, alignment drifts, and each modality switch typically requires a re-calibration routine.
The PAX-400C uses two separate, fixed detectors — one permanently mounted on the rotating pan arm, one permanently mounted on the ceph arm. No sliding, no wear, no drift, no re-cal between modalities, and each detector can be purpose-optimized for its own modality.
Panoramic (5): Standard · Pediatric · TMJ · Anterior · Posterior.
Cephalometric (5): Lateral · PA · Waters View · Carpus · SMV. These 5 positions are physically labeled on the ceph detector housing itself — see the gallery photo showing the "Lateral / PA·Waters·Carpus / SMV" moulded markings.
Panoramic: 60–90 kV, 2–15 mA, exposure ≤12 s, resolution up to 2.5 lp/mm. Cephalometric: 60–100 kV, 2–20 mA, exposure ≤8 s, resolution up to 3.0 lp/mm. Both detectors are amorphous silicon (a-Si) flat panel. Generator: high-frequency 400 kHz. Power: AC 220 V ±10%, 50/60 Hz single-phase. Dimensions approx. 180×80×220 cm, 250 kg.
Yes — CBCT is listed as an optional module on the PAX-400C platform. Implant planning and airway analysis modules are also optional. Exact upgrade availability depends on the firmware revision of your specific unit; we confirm options per-unit at quote stage. If you think you might want CBCT within 2–3 years, PAX-400C keeps that door open.
Vatech's built-in imaging pipeline includes AI-based noise reduction, adaptive edge enhancement, and automatic gray-scale mapping — applied at acquisition time, not as manual post-processing. Output is DICOM for integration with third-party practice-management systems, PACS, and implant planning software (coDiagnostiX, Simplant, Blue Sky Plan, etc.).
Yes. The PAX-400C complies with IEC 60601-1 (medical electrical equipment general safety), IEC 61223 (evaluation and routine testing of imaging X-ray equipment), and FDA 21 CFR Part 1020 (US performance standards for diagnostic X-ray). Automatic Exposure Control (AEC) is included for dose optimization per the ALARA principle.
Pre-owned Grade-A tested units in our Shanghai warehouse. Each has been powered on, calibrated, pan- and ceph- test-scanned, and photographed before crating. The videos on this page are of the actual inventory. Cosmetic condition, warranty terms and specific software license are confirmed per-unit on request.
